FAQs
How should I prepare for my first appointment?
Once you book your Initial Assessment HERE! You will receive all the necessary information regarding preparation for your appointment. Prior to your initial assessment, you will need to fill out our intake forms. If you require us to bill or contact your insurance company directly, you will need to let us know in the intake form, prior to your appointment, so that we can send you proper insurance related forms and help you fill them out. Because PhysioD is a boutique-like, private clinic that only accepts one person at a time, we require everyone to be ontime for their appointments. If you arrive early, you may need to stay in the building or parking and wait until your appointment time arrives. Here are some more details regarding preparation for your appointment:
What should I wear for my appointments?
Dress comfortably in clothes that allow easy access for the therapist to examine the discomfort/injury/concern. You may bring shorts with you in case you are experiencing lower-body concerns and/or wear a tank-tops in case of upper-body concerns.
Loose-fitting clothes that are comfortable for gentle exercises and supportive sneakers are often good choices to wear.
What will payment look like?
We accept cash, debit cards, credit cards and online payments through the Janeapp. It is our policy that payment is made at the time of service.
If you wish us to bill your insurance company directly, please let us know as you fill out your intake form for Initial Assessment. We will send you the required paperwork and will bill your insurance company on the day of your assessment. In the event that the insurance company shows us an error message, doesn’t accept the direct billing, or has a policy of reimbursing you directly, you will be required to make a payment on your initial visit. In that case your insurance benefits will be determined before your second visit, and you will be informed of the details on that date. Contact our Toronto, ON physiotherapy office at 416-224-8484 if you are not sure how your insurance works, and we will be happy to help you figure it out!
Do you take my insurance?
In most cases, if you have coverage for physiotherapy, insurance will cover a good portion, if not all, of your treatment costs. We understand navigating insurance can be confusing, so PhysioD will be happy to assist in contacting your insurance company and determining your coverage based on your policy.
For more information, visit our insurance plan page, and please do not hesitate to contact our Toronto, ON physiotherapy office. We do offer different payment options for your convenience.

How long do PT sessions last?
Although each patient is different, typically, the first session lasts for 60 minutes. Each session after that may be 30-45 minutes. If you require help with filling out the paperwork, sometimes the initial assessment may take a bit longer.
The amount of time will be based on your specific needs, and our therapist will discuss this with you. You will most likely see your therapist once or twice per week, to begin with, and as you progress through treatment, your sessions will be more spread out.
What will my treatments look like?
With physiotherapy, it’s important to know that the overall goal is to restore mobility and function and to prevent injury or pain.
PhysioD evaluates your movement patterns, identifies the cause of your weakness or pain, and works to manage or eliminate it.
Physiotherapists are medical professionals when it comes to musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. They work closely with physicians to make sure that your treatment plan is as efficient and effective as possible. Physiotherapy is a medical, hands-on approach for relieving pain and restoring function.
While every patient’s condition is unique, PhysioD will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels.
Will my treatments be uncomfortable?
PhysioD ensures that your treatment plan stays within your tolerable ranges. Good communication with our therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities.
Physiotherapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain! There is a chance, however, as you restore your mobility that your pain levels will fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness after some soft tissue techniques, or from using muscles that are weakened or recovering, but our therapists will stay within your tolerance. You will be encouraged to communicate with your therapist about your level of comfort and your therapist will make sure that your concerns are fully met and that you are comfortable with all the aspects of your therapy.
When will I notice pain relief?
Each patient’s diagnosis is different, so together, we will develop a plan of care that is right for you.
Your plan of care and number of visits will be determined during your first visit and explained to you by PhysioD.
If I want to continue with PT sessions after my pain is gone, can I do so?
Yes, once you have completed your therapy sessions, your therapist will review your at-home continuing therapy program.
If you need physiotherapy to help you maintain your function and health, PhysioD will discuss maintenance programs with you.
If you go to a gym or if you are willing to attend/continue a certain sport activity, we can also consult with you on determining what equipment may be beneficial, and what exercises would be helpful in your continued recovery.
